Migration Flows through the Lens of Human Resource Ageing

Abstract Background: Ageing and shrinking of the European population influence central places hinterland cities in a spatial structure. Migration also influences or growing units. Various factors migration and, thus, units’ demographic, social economic stability. The age structure citizens unit may change not only due to ageing but because these flows different cohorts differently, which has been studied so far. Objectives: We used data on internal between Slovenian municipalities 2018 2019 develop cohort-based interaction model estimate future inter-municipal migration. Approach: In model, we analyzed differences attractiveness stickiness for cohorts, focusing those over 65 who wish prolong their working status. tried answer question how mitigate shrinkage processes units by investigating potential contribute value communities. Results: study’s results show that 65+ do have same preferences regarding as younger migrants. Conclusions: our study could better decisions at national, regional, and/or local level when designing strategies urban, rural development, exploring best solutions long-term care, investing appropriate networks, considering revitalization municipalities.
